135 products across 10 categories, the gear we buy, install and reorder across the seven homes we co-host. Not every home gets every item.
Nothing else on this list matters until a guest can let themselves in at 1am without calling you.
Standardised, bleachable and bought in multiples, so a stain costs one piece instead of a whole set.
Towels, shower fixtures and the refills we buy by the gallon, for the room guests judge first.
The rooms guests use hardest, and the things that survive being used by strangers every week.
The small touches that show up in reviews far out of proportion to their size.
The signs that answer a question before it becomes a message, a plumber, or a neighbour complaint.
Noise and darkness are two of the most common complaints, and both are simple to fix before they happen.
What happens outside the door and after dark, plus the kit you hope nobody ever needs.
Filters, vents and the brush nobody wants to think about, replaced on a schedule instead of after a complaint.
For the afternoon the weather turns and the plan falls apart.
A look at what is on these lists, without having to pick a tile first.
Forty-eight cloths at thirteen inches square, coral fleece microfiber, in black. The color is the point, since a mark that would retire a white cloth simply does not show, so these stay in rotation across seven houses.
King size, ninety by one hundred and two inches, down alternative fill, with a tab at each corner. A king insert shifts inside its cover more than a smaller one does, and the tabs hold it square so a bed does not need remaking mid stay.
200 packets of turbinado cane sugar, Non-GMO Project Verified, kosher, vegan and gluten free. A sugar bowl is one more thing to wash and refill in every kitchen we turn over, and a box of packets takes that job off the list.
Six 13 ounce glasses in lead free crystal, tall highball shape for mixed drinks and water. Guests mix drinks from whatever we left in the cabinet, and a short glass turns one drink into two pours, so we stock for the height.
A 20 inch foam ring with 98.4 feet of floating rope attached. We hang one at every home with water so guests see it on the way out back, and the rope is long enough to reach from a deck or a dock.
A standard deck covers more games than anything else on the shelf and guests never need to ask how it works. When a card goes missing we swap the whole deck rather than go looking for it.
A doorbell that walks off is a doorbell you buy twice. This bracket locks the unit down and swivels, so we can aim it at the walkway instead of the neighbor's driveway.
Good for a room with one ceiling box that needs light aimed in more than one direction. It wires into the existing fixture, so no electrician and no new holes in the ceiling.
If buying, installing and reordering all of this sounds like a lot, that is the part we take off your hands.
